2. Data Storage and Ownership
- Local First: All your tasks, events, and personal data are stored locally on your device by default
- Complete Control: You have full control over your data, with options to export, backup, and delete at any time
- Your Data Belongs to You: We design our app with the philosophy that your data is yours alone. We don't claim ownership over any content you create
- Premium Cloud Storage: Premium subscribers can optionally enable secure cloud sync for data backup and multi-device access
3. Data Collection and Usage
- Minimal Data Collection: We collect only the data you explicitly create within the app and necessary technical information
- Types of Data:
- Tasks and their details
- Events and calendar entries
- Categories and task classifications
- App preferences and settings
- Subscription status and billing information (processed by Google Play/App Store)
- Device information for advertising (free tier only)
- Usage Analytics: Basic, anonymous usage statistics may be collected to improve the app experience. This can be disabled in settings

4. App Permissions
TaskMate requires certain permissions to deliver its full functionality. All permissions are requested only when needed and can be managed in your device settings at any time.

5. Subscriptions and Premium Features
TaskMate offers two tiers:
- Free Tier: Basic task management with ads
- Premium Subscription: Ad-free experience with advanced features
- Billing: All subscription billing is handled securely by Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Data Collection: We only receive subscription status information (active/inactive) from the app stores
- Payment Information: We never store or have access to your credit card or payment details

- Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account
6. Cloud Sync Premium Only
Cloud sync is available exclusively for Premium subscribers!
This feature allows you to:
- Securely sync your tasks across multiple devices
- Back up your data to the cloud
- Access your tasks from anywhere
- Seamlessly switch between devices
- Opt-in Only: Cloud sync is completely optional and requires explicit activation by Premium users
- Authentication: We use secure authentication methods to protect your data
- Encryption: All synced data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption
- User Control: You have complete control over what data is synced and when
- Data Location: Cloud data is stored on secure servers with enterprise-grade security
- Deletion: You can delete all cloud data at any time from the app settings
- No Ads: Premium users' cloud data is never used for advertising purposes
Privacy First: Even with cloud sync enabled, we maintain our privacy-first approach. Your task data remains private and is never shared with third parties.
7. Advertising (Free Users Only)
To support the free version of TaskMate, we display advertisements to non-premium users:
- Ad Networks: We partner with reputable advertising networks (Google AdMob) to display ads
- Data for Ads:
- Device advertising identifier (can be reset in device settings)
- Basic device information (OS version, device type)
- App usage patterns (anonymized)
- General location (country/region level only)
- Personalized Ads: Ads may be personalized based on your interests and usage patterns
- Ad Preferences: You can control ad personalization through your device's advertising settings
- Premium Users: Premium subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience with no advertising data collection
- Opt-out: You can limit ad tracking through your device settings or upgrade to Premium
Important: Task content, personal information, and sensitive data are never shared with advertising networks. Only anonymized usage patterns and device identifiers are used for ad targeting.
8. Third-Party Integrations
- System Calendar: Read-only access to your device's calendar (optional)
- Firebase Services: We use Firebase for cloud messaging, notifications, and Premium cloud sync
- Google Play Services: For subscription management and some device features
- Advertising Networks: Google AdMob for free users (can be disabled with Premium subscription)
- Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics to improve app performance (can be opted out)
- No Data Selling: We do not sell your personal data to any third parties

Privacy First: TaskMate is built with a privacy-first approach. All features that could
potentially impact your privacy are disabled by default and require your explicit opt-in.
11. Age Requirements
- Minimum Age: TaskMate is intended for users aged 13 and above
- Parental Consent: Users between 13-17 should have parental consent before using the app
- Data Protection: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
- COPPA Compliance: We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
- Reporting: If you are a parent or guardian and believe we may have collected information about a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information
Important: If you are under 13, please do not use TaskMate or provide any personal information through the app.
12. Changes to Privacy Policy
- Updates: We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, features, or for legal/regulatory reasons
- Notification: Significant changes will be notified to you through the app and via email if you have cloud sync enabled
- Latest Version: The current version will always be available within the app
- Continued Use: Your continued use of the app after policy changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
- Major Changes: For significant changes affecting your privacy rights, we may require explicit consent
